Parking Hours Are Changing with Start of the New Semester

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — Starting Monday, Aug. 24, most University of Arkansas parking lots near the central core of campus and two parking garages will require parking permits from 7 a.m. until 8 p.m., Monday through Friday.

From 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays specific parking permits are required for each section of each lot.

Between 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. weekdays any current U of A parking permit can be used in these lots.

The parking lots affected are the Reserved, Faculty/Staff, and Student sections of lots 2, 6, 9, 10, 14, 14A, 14B, 14C, 15, 15A, 18, 19, 20, 26, 28, 29, 31, 31N, 32, 33, 33A, 35, 35N, 36, 36A, 36B, 37, 38, 38A, 50, 66, 71, 75, as well as the Stadium Drive and Garland Avenue Garages.

The lots can be seen on the Transit and Parking website’s PDF map; the lots are indicated with a white number on a black background. Printed copies of the parking maps are available at the Transit and Parking Department in the Administrative Services Building, the Parking Office in the Harmon Avenue Parking Garage, and the Arkansas Union Information Desk.

The changes do not affect Resident Reserved parking lots, which will still require a current Resident Reserved permit at all times. The new requirements do not apply to other parking lots outside the central campus core.

PARKING GARAGES

A Stadium Drive Garage permit will be required in that facility from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., but any current U of A parking permit can be used between 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. in the permit spaces. Drivers without a permit must use the metered spaces and pay the meter fee between 7 a.m. and 8 p.m. Monday through Friday.

In the Garland Avenue Parking Garage, garage permits are required at all times on levels B2, 2, 3 and 4. A garage permit is required for level B1 from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., but any U of A permit can be used on level B1 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Meter payment will be required on level 1 from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday.

PARKING METERS

Some of the parking lots in the central campus have gray parking meters that now require payment from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Gold-colored parking meters everywhere on campus require payment 24 hours a day.

It is possible to pay for metered parking on campus by using the Parkmobile mobile app on a smart phone. The parking transaction takes just a few seconds, and the user can also opt-in to receive notifications 15-minutes prior to the parking session expiring. More Parkmobile information is available on the web at us.parkmobile.com.

ADDITIONAL CHANGES

There have been changes to three additional lots:

  • Lot 39, on the southwest corner of the Lindell/Douglas intersection has been changed from a Student lot to Resident Reserved.
  • Lot 36B, on Oakland Avenue, has been designated as a scholarship lot and must be vacated for all home football games.
  • Lot 35 is designated as no overnight parking.

VIOLATION CHARGES

The charges for some parking violations have increased:

  • Parking in a handicap parking space without a valid ADA parking permit is now a $150 charge.
  • Not vacating an athletic scholarship parking lot before the event is a $100 charge.
  • Leaving the Harmon Avenue Parking Garage without paying the meter fee carries a $100 charge.
