Razorback Sports Network Wins Sports Media Award

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — The Razorback Sports Network, a division of the University of Arkansas Department of Intercollegiate Athletics, recently was recognized with an award by The Sports Video Group and the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics at the 2015 SVG/NACDA College Sports Media Awards.

RSN was honored for outstanding live production of a collegiate athletics event for its SEC Network-Plus production of an Arkansas vs. LSU baseball game on Saturday, March 21. In the first year of its partnership with the SEC Network, RSN produced nearly 130 events, including 90 on SEC Network-Plus with an additional 11 broadcasts produced for linear networks (SEC Network and ESPNU).

"Congratulations to our Razorback Sports Network team on earning national recognition for their outstanding work," said Jeff Long, vice chancellor and director of athletics. "RSN has been an instrumental part of a successful first year of the SEC Network and we are extremely proud of their efforts. RSN produces thousands of hours of network quality programming for fans throughout the country, resulting in unprecedented exposure for our institution."

Winners were selected by a panel of judges and announced at the College Sports Media Awards ceremony earlier this week in Atlanta. Representing a variety of college athletic and academic departments, as well as professional networks, production companies, and student productions, awards were spread across four divisions in a total of 20 categories.

"I'm very proud of the entire RSN team," Assistant Athletics Director for Broadcast Services Michelle Glover said. "A lot of hours go into each production by the full-time staff as well as students. It truly is a team effort.  We are all extremely grateful to have the facilities and support of the Athletic Department Administration in everything we do. We are honored to bring home an SVG award to the University of Arkansas."

In addition to its award for live production, RSN was also a finalist for an award in the category of outstanding live studio/remote hosted programming for its 2015 National Football Signing Day show. The two-hour program was broadcast live from the Fred W. Smith Football Center by hosts Chuck Barrett and former Razorback quarterback Quinn Grovey. The show combined live interviews with Arkansas head football coach Bret Bielema and his coaching staff, early enrollees and Skype interviews with football letter of intent signees.
