This Week in the Visual and Performing Arts: May 1-8

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The J. William Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences will host a guest author talk, a literature reading, an art exhibition and two music performances this week. Students, faculty, staff and guests are encouraged to attend these events in the visual and performing arts.

McIlroy Family Visiting Professor Peter Coyote will give an author's talk at 7 p.m. Friday, May 1, at the Fayetteville Public Library, 401 W. Mountain St. A book signing will follow at 8 p.m.

At the same time, William Pittam and Kimberly Driggers will give readings of their works written in the Program in Creative Writing in Old Main's Giffels Auditorium.

Also on Friday, the University of Arkansas Children's Choir will give a performance at 7:30 at the First Presbyterian Church, 695 E. Calvin St.

The University of Arkansas Association of Ceramic Enthusiasts will host its annual End of the Year Sale and Open Studio Exhibition at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 2, in the Ceramics Studio, 326 Eastern Ave. The event will close at 4 p.m.

The Music Outreach Program will host a recital featuring private lesson students at 3 p.m. Sunday, May 3, in The Fine Arts Center's Stella Boyle Smith Concert Hall.

The events this week are limited due to final exams. As of publication, no events in the visual and performing arts were scheduled for Monday, May 4, through Friday, May 8.
