University of Arkansas Hosts STEM Career Fair
The Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math Career Fair attracted 75 potential engineering employers and over 500 students seeking internships, co-op positions and full-time employment opportunities. The fair took place on March 31, in the Arkansas Union Verizon Ballroom from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
"The STEM Career Fair is a great opportunity for students to network with employers and learn about different companies and the positions they are looking to fill," said Brian Henderson, director of employer relations for the College of Engineering. "We were extremely pleased with the turnout by both recruiters and students at this year's fair, considering we had to re-schedule the event due to weather in early March."
This career fair is hosted twice each year by the University Career Development Center and the College of Engineering. Companies such as Garmin Corp., Wal-Mart Stores Inc., Entergy Corp., J.B. Hunt Transport Services Inc., Tyson Foods Inc., FedEx Corp. and General Motors Co. were represented at the fair. Interviews took place the following day in the Arkansas Union and the Bell Engineering Center.
Corporate sponsors for the Career Development Center and the College of Engineering include: Arkansas Department of Human Services, Cameron, ConocoPhillips, Consumer Testing Laboratories, Eastman Chemical, Marshalltown, National Oilwell Varco, SMART Scholarship Program, Tyson Foods and Wal-Mart Stores Inc.
