FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The School of Social Work in the J. William Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences will host its annual open house from 4:30-7 p.m. on Thursday, March 19, at the School of Social Work, which is housed in the Academic Support Building.

The event provides outreach and information to potential undergraduate and graduate students. It also offers opportunities for current students to network with community social workers who are potential employers and future colleagues. Many of the professional social workers who will be attending are also field internship instructors for the School of Social Work and provide valuable internships that are required of all social work students.

"The open house is just one more way the School of Social Work continuously works to achieve its goals of admitting and preparing the best and brightest new professional social workers and fostering collaborative community relationships," said event founder Alishia Ferguson, assistant professor of social work.

The event will include a scavenger hunt to encourage current and prospective students to explore the School of Social Work building, meet new people and collect information about the school and profession. Each participant completing the scavenger hunt will be entered in a drawing for a $25 Fresco Café gift card.

Door prizes such as gift cards, gift baskets, t-shirts and more will be awarded periodically. The school thanks the University of Arkansas Bookstore, Ozark Natural Foods, Panera Bread, Malco Theaters, Crain Hyundai of Fayetteville, CVS and others for donating prizes.

Social work students, faculty and staff, community social workers and potential social work students are invited to attend. The open house is held during March to celebrate National Social Work Month.
