FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The University of Arkansas is hosting the 2014 NCAA South Central Regional Cross Country Championships at Agri Park on Friday, Nov. 14.

The women's 6k cross country championship race will start at noon, and the men's 10k cross country championship will begin at 1 p.m.

Both Razorback teams won their respective meets at the Southeast Conference championships in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, two weeks ago. The women's cross country team is now ranked No. 4 in the country, and the men's team is ranked 24th nationally.

Both races will include teams from 23 universities as well as select runners from other schools competing for individual honors. The teams represent eight conferences, competing for an automatic spot in the NCAA Cross Country Championships, which we be run Saturday, Nov. 22, in Terre Haute, Indiana. The top two teams and then the top four individuals from among all the other teams will receive automatic spots at the national meet. At-large teams and individuals will be announced following completion of all nine NCAA regional championships.

This will be the third time in school history that the Razorbacks have hosted an NCAA cross country regional, and the 2014 event will mark the second time in a three-year span that Agri Park has served as the site for an NCAA regional. Arkansas also hosted in 2007 and 2012.

The university's cross country course is at the Arkansas Agricultural Research and Extension Center, north of the main campus on Garland Avenue and about a half mile south of Garland's intersection with Interstate 49. Parking for spectators is available west of Garland Avenue. Early arrival is recommended to have time to get from the parking area to the course.
