Center for Ethics in Journalism to Host Informative, Interactive Workshop
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – When a big story breaks, the competition among journalists to get the news first is fierce. How can reporters and managers make good ethical decisions on deadline? The Center for Ethics in Journalism in the Walter J. Lemke Department of Journalism will host a free workshop to address such questions from 8:30 a.m.-1 p.m., Friday, Nov. 7 in the Donald W. Reynolds Center’s auditorium.
Roundtable discussions, moderated by 2014 visiting distinguished professor of ethics in journalism Deborah Potter, will explore ethical decision making. Potter, a veteran network reporter and founder of Newslab.org, will guide the interactive workshop using scenarios based on current ethical issues.
The event is free, but registration is required. To register, visit tinyurl.com/UAEthicsWorkshop by Nov. 5. Continental breakfast and snacks will be provided for participants. Paid parking is available at the Harmon Avenue Garage. For more information, contact the Center for Ethics in Journalism at (479) 575-7047.
The Center for Ethics in Journalism, part of the J. William Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences, fosters the study and practice of the principles of accuracy, fairness and service to the public in editorial/news in all media, in video and audio formats, and in advertising and public relations.
