This Week in the Visual and Performing Arts: Oct. 24 - 31

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The J. William Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences will host many events this week, including multiple art exhibitions, recitals and a guest lecture. Students, faculty, staff and guests are encouraged to attend these performances in the visual and performing arts.

Stationary Realms, an exhibit by multiple artists, will close Friday, Oct. 24. It may be seen in the Fine Arts Center Gallery from 9 a.m.-5 p.m.

Ceramics artist Kristen Morgin will lead workshops in the Ceramics Studio at 326 S. Eastern Ave. Friday, Oct. 24, from 10 a.m.-noon and 1-3 p.m.

Also on Friday, 12 students’ sculpture work will be on display at the Levi Storage Center located at 1800 Stirman Ave. in Fayetteville. A closing reception will take place from 5-8 p.m. at the center.

Later that evening, voice students from assistant professor of music Moon-Sook Park’s class will perform at 7:30 p.m. in the Stella Boyle Smith Concert Hall.

Guest artists Caroline Kinsey and Dan Vidican will perform a horn recital Sunday, Oct. 26, at 7:30 p.m. in the Fine Arts Center’s Stella Boyle Smith Concert Hall.

The Double Sharp Piano Duo, featuring Russian-born pianists Natasha Marin and Maria Demina, will perform a recital on Monday, Oct. 27, at 8 p.m. in the Stella Boyle Smith Concert Hall. 

Temporary Indefinite, an art exhibition by multiple artists, will close Wednesday, Oct. 29. It may be seen at the sUgAR Gallery, 1 E. Center St. on the Fayetteville Square, from 3:30-6:30 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays and from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday.

Also on Wednesday, Nadi Cinema presents A Light From Nowhere (dir. Nissim Dayan, Israel 1973) at 8 p.m. in the Hembree Auditorium in the Agricultural Food and Life Sciences building, room 107E.

Visiting artist Jill Wissmiller will give a lecture on Thursday, Oct. 30, at 5:30 p.m. in Kimpel Hall.

Also on Thursday, the University of Arkansas Trumpet Studio will perform a recital at 7:30 p.m. in the Stella Boyle Smith Concert Hall.

Artwork from printmaking and ceramics classes will be on display in the hallway cases in the Fine Arts Center throughout October.

The Arkansas Experience in the First World War, an exhibition of artifacts including uniforms, helmets, weapons and photos, will remain on display through December in the Bogle Exhibit Hall on the 5th floor of Old Main.
