Calling All Hogs Home To Help Saves Through Blood Donations
It’s time to roll up your sleeve to help save lives through blood donations during this year’s "Calling All Hogs Home" Homecoming blood drive.
Students, alumni, faculty, staff and the entire community are invited to donate blood at this event, which has become a Homecoming tradition. The blood drive will occur from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 15, and Thursday, Oct. 16, in the HPER Building third-floor gyms.
Appointments are available at http://www.redcrossblood.org/. Enter the sponsor code: UAFAY.
For more than two decades, the University of Arkansas and the Red Cross have teamed up for one of the biggest Red Cross blood drives in the state. During that time, the U of A community has helped the Red Cross collect thousands of units of blood.
This year, the goal is to bring in more than 1,200 blood donations through the Homecoming blood drive. With each donation helping to save up to three lives, this blood drive could provide potentially lifesaving blood to more than 3,000 patients in need, according to the Red Cross. Blood donated at the University of Arkansas Homecoming blood drive could help many patients in need, including accident victims, cancer patients and those undergoing surgery.
