The recreation and sport management program at the University of Arkansas will present Andy Staples, senior writer for Sports Illustrated, for a question-and-answer session Oct. 10 on the business of college football.

This free session will take place at 3 p.m. Friday, Oct. 10 in Room 316 of the Health, Physical Education and Recreation Building and is open to the public. For those unfamiliar with the HPER Building, the entrance off Stadium Drive is the closest to the classroom where Staples will speak.

Staples was also a guest of the program in 2012.

Staples, a former walk-on offensive lineman at the University of Florida, has covered college football for Sports Illustrated since 2008. He holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism and has worked at the Tampa Tribune and the Chattanooga Times Free Press.

Possible topics for discussion include the new college football playoff, the fan experience at college football games, the O’Bannon lawsuit, and Power 5 conferences.

Associate Professor Steve Dittmore will moderate the session, which will include time for audience questions.
