Poet Jericho Brown Kicks Off True Lit Festival
Poet Jericho Brown
The University of Arkansas Program in Creative Writing and Translation is proud to host award-winning poet Jericho Brown for a public reading as part of True Lit, the Fayetteville Literary Festival. Brown's reading will take place at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 1, in Giffels Auditorium, Old Main.
Brown's first collection, Please, won the American Book Award, and his second book, The New Testament, is available now from Copper Canyon Press. He is the recipient of fellowships from the Radcliffe Institute for Advanced Study at Harvard University and the National Endowment for the Arts. His poems have appeared or are forthcoming in The Nation, The New Yorker, The New Republic, and The Best American Poetry.
True Lit is an annual event celebrating literature and literacy, sponsored by multiple community partners. This year's festival takes place Oct. 1-5 at various locations throughout Fayetteville and will feature acclaimed YA and children's author Jacqueline Woodson as the keynote speaker.
The Brown reading is free and open to the public. It is made possible by the U of A Fine Arts Activity Fee, the Department of English, and the Walton Family Foundation.
