The Outdoor Connection Center, a program area of the department of University Recreation, will host a surf trip to San Elijo State Beach California this November. The group will depart on Nov. 22 and drive to Southern California. Participants will then receive three days of surf instruction from professionals at the Eli Howard Surf School.

The trip offers several other fun activities including beach volleyball, sunrise yoga, lagoon hikes, and beach-cruiser bike rides. Trip participants will camp on the beach every night and enjoy Thanksgiving dinner at a beachside bonfire. The group will then return on Nov. 30.

"We are really excited to offer some new programming,” said Jonathan Vogler, coordinator for the Outdoor Connection Center. “The idea for this trip came from some feedback from some of our student staff who have been instrumental in planning the event. I'm sure it will be the experience of a lifetime!"

This trip is most appropriate for individuals with little to no surf experience. The cost for the trip is $649 for University of Arkansas students and $699 for university faculty, staff, or UREC members. The cost includes all transportation, food while camping, surf instruction, surf rentals, camping/cooking equipment, bike rentals, and transportation insurance. A $99 deposit is due at the time of registration. Registration is limited to six participants and will be filled on a first-come-first-served basis. The registration deadline is Nov. 12. Individuals may register online at urec.uark.edu member services or in-person at the OCC in HPER 102. For more information visit urec.uark.edu, email camp@uark.edu, or call 575-CAMP (2267).
