University development’s office of corporate and foundation relations has added a new member to its team.

Marla Mayberry has been named the new associate director for the office, effective Aug. 19. Mayberry brings 18 years of non-profit experience to the University of Arkansas and will report to Greg Lewis, director of corporate and foundation relations.

“Our office aims to strengthen the university’s relationship with industry and mission-driven foundations with the ultimate goal of bringing additional resources to campus,” said Lewis. “This often means helping outside organizations navigate the complex world of higher education, while helping our campus partners navigate the realm of corporations and foundations. Marla’s experiences, proven leadership skills, and amicable personality are a perfect fit for the unique role of corporate and foundation relations, and we’re thrilled to have her on board.”

Mayberry holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Langston University and a master’s degree in human relations and organizational development from the University of Oklahoma. In her previous work experience, she spent four years as the executive director of the Hutcherson Family YMCA of Greater Tulsa and four years as the executive director of the Metropolitan Tulsa Urban League. Most recently, Mayberry served as the Tulsa-area director for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Oklahoma.

“I was drawn to the excitement and momentum at the University of Arkansas,” said Mayberry. “In this position, I want to build great corporate and foundation relationships for the state on behalf of the university. And I’m looking forward to the opportunity to grow professionally and take my skill set to another level.”

The office of corporate and foundation relations was established to support, coordinate and integrate student advancement, research and university outreach activities with industry and mission-based organizations. The corporate and foundation relations team works to coordinate external access to resources at the University of Arkansas to maximize the impact of higher education with an approach that is mutually beneficial to both the contributing organization and the university.
