University of Arkansas to Host 2014 SEC Union Directors Conference This Week

The University of Arkansas will host the 2014 SEC Union Directors Conference, June 25-27. The annual conference facilitates networking for student union staff from across the South Eastern Conference.

The purpose of the conference is to enhance the ways in which student unions can advance the quality of educational outcomes at member schools. Among the approximately 40 attendees at this year’s conference are union directors, student employees, and custodial, maintenance, and events and operations personnel.

Conference organizers will provide attendees with tours of the U of A campus and the Arkansas Union. There will be breakout sessions for focused discussion of specialty areas in student services.  This year's conference features presentations from a number of different academic enhancement units at the U of A, including the office of sustainability, the Volunteer Action Center, the Multicultural Center, and UAPD. Conference events and activities will also showcase the dining experiences available on campus from Chartwells and the Inn at Carnall Hall.

“We are excited to have been chosen to be the host of this year’s SEC Union Directors Summer Conference,” said Lynne Williams, executive director of business services for student affairs. “Holding the conference on campus allows a broad spectrum of our Union supervisors and student affairs staff to take part in the conference activities and gather new ideas from our SEC counterparts on ways to further enhance the contributions our division makes to the social, cultural, and academic life of the university.”
