Annual Delta Classic July 18 in Helena; Tourney Supports Crop, Soil and Environmental Sciences Scholarships

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The 15th annual Delta Classic Scholarship Golf Tournament is scheduled for July 18 at the Helena Country Club in Helena.

The annual event is a fundraiser for undergraduate scholarships for students in the department of crop, soil and environmental sciences in the Dale Bumpers College of Agricultural, Food and Life Sciences at the University of Arkansas.

Registration for the four-man scramble begins at 7:30 a.m. with tee-off set for 9 a.m. Johnny Roach of Monticello is providing a play-through barbecue lunch.

Team, hole and corporate sponsorships are available. Corporate sponsors of the 2013 tournament were Allen Canning Co., Arkansas Farm Bureau, DuPont Pioneer and Monsanto.

Teams must pre-register to participate. Online registration is available.

Among the several scholarships awarded with proceeds from last year’s Delta Classic were $2,000 scholarships for Anna Brickell, Caraway; Wayne Hawkins, Alexander; Zach Jones, Paragould; Reed St. Columbia, Helena; and Julia Shell, Jonesborough, Tennessee. James Barrentine Scholarships of $2,500 each were awarded to Tra Dickson and Tucker Thompson, Marion; Hunter Harris, Stuttgart; and Layton McCullars, DeWitt.
