UREC's Small Group Training "Run & Relax" class.

University Recreation Small Group Training offers a unique opportunity to explore a new dimension of fitness by blending group fitness with personal training. Small Group Training offers classes that focus on a specialized format, individualized progression and skill development. These programs are designed for those who are looking to be challenged with the combination of camaraderie, creative workouts and education on fitness techniques and wellness concepts.  Registration includes a class of your choosing meeting twice each week for eight weeks. All classes are led by UREC certified personal trainers.

Paul Calleja, a regular SGT participant, said, “I’ve been an athlete all my life and this is the best shape I have ever been in my whole life.  Research is coming out regarding 30 minute high- intensity workouts that are very effective compared to other training modalities.”

The Small Group Training Class Pass allows participants to attend the class in which they register. Classes are offered at various times throughout the day to fit a variety of schedules. Classes are located in the HPER building, as well as the UREC Fitness Center located in the Arkansas Union. The cost for students for the eight-week section ranges from $60-$90, all other UREC membership types range from $80-$100. Non-members are also eligible to register with prices ranging from $100-$120.

To register for Small Group Training, purchase a class pass before Monday, June 9, at the UREC Main Office, HPER 225, or at the UREC Fitness Center Front Desk in the Arkansas Union. The summer 2014 Small Group Training Schedule for all session dates and times is listed here.
