Martin Named New Vice Provost for Academic Affairs

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Terry Martin, who currently serves as senior associate dean for the College of Engineering at the University of Arkansas, has been named vice provost for academic affairs, effective June 1. Martin will work in the Office of the Provost and coordinate with the Arkansas Department of Higher Education, the Higher Learning Commission and the U of A Academic Integrity Board. He will also work with program reviews, curriculum review, summer school and intersessions, resolving student issues, and overseeing Inquiry Magazine.

Martin has been on the faculty at the University of Arkansas for 24 years, and is a professor of electrical engineering. As an administrator he has served as senior associate dean, associate dean, interim dean, and interim department head of biomedical engineering.

Martin is a graduate of the university, having received his BSEE, MSEE, and doctorate from the U of A.

Sharon Gaber, provost and vice chancellor for academic affairs, indicated that she is “very pleased that Dr. Martin is accepting the position. It is great that he will to take the skills that have made him an effective academic administrator for the past decade and use them at the university-level.”
