Architect Peter Bohlin will present a lecture Tuesday evening at the Ron Robinson Theater in Little Rock.

LITTLE ROCK – Architect Peter Bohlin will present a lecture titled “Nature of Circumstance” on Tuesday, May 20, at the Ron Robinson Theater, 100 River Market Ave., in Little Rock. The lecture will begin at 6 p.m., following a 5:30 p.m. reception.

This lecture is part of the Architecture and Design Network’s 2013-2014 Art of Architecture lecture series.

Bohlin founded Bohlin Cywinski Jackson in 1965 in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. With additional offices in Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, Seattle and San Francisco, the firm now employs 200 people. Embracing an approach to architecture that has been described as human and enabling, Bohlin bases his aesthetic on “a quiet rigor which is both intellectual and intuitive.” He considers himself to be a “soft modernist.”

With a range of projects in natural and manmade settings, his firm has been celebrated for dealing with the varied needs and circumstances of its many clients and has been the recipient of more than 500 regional, national and international awards. Bohlin and his firm are credited with the design of the iconic Apple flagship stores here and abroad, from New York City to Shanghai.

In 1994, the American Institute of Architects honored Bohlin Cywinski Jackson with its Architecture Firm Award. In 2010, Bohlin was the recipient of the group’s Gold Medal, the profession’s highest honor “given to an individual whose significant body of work has had a lasting influence on the theory and practice of architecture.”

The 2013-14 Art of Architecture lecture series is sponsored by the Architecture and Design Network, a non-profit organization, with support from the Central Arkansas Chapter of the American Institute of Architects, the Arkansas Arts Center and the Fay Jones School of Architecture.

The lecture is free and open to the public, and no reservations are needed.
