FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – At approximately 11:45 a.m. Wednesday, April 30 the University of Arkansas Police Department received a report from a local individual who said he overheard a conversation the evening of April 29, 2014, at a Fayetteville bar, of a man claiming “there was going to be a shooting on campus,” on April 30, 2014.

Since getting the report, UAPD has been investigating, and while the threat does not appear to be credible, the campus community is advised to be on alert and extra vigilant in their activities today, and to report any suspicious activities to UAPD by calling 575-2222 or for an emergency call 911.

UAPD is adding extra patrols to campus today. The campus is not on lockdown, nor are classes being cancelled. The community is urged to be alert.

UAPD will continue to investigate the matter.
