FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Join the J. William Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences for the celebration of the 109th anniversary of Sen. Fulbright’s Birth at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 9, in the Arkansas Union International Connections Lounge.

“We’re excited to welcome Tom Healy, chairman of the Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board, as our keynote speaker this year,” said Todd Shields, dean of Fulbright College. “The Fulbright Program and Fulbright College share a profound legacy, and I appreciate chairman Healy’s commitment to strengthening the bond between these two organizations.”

In addition to the annual program, this year’s celebration will include exhibits featuring various aspects of campus that emphasize educational exchange, cultural understanding and international good will. The exhibits, also in the Connections Lounge, will open at 1 p.m. and close at 4 p.m.

The college began a tradition of commemorating the birthday of the former university president and U.S. senator in 2012. As with previous celebrations, this year’s festivities will also include the Hogwild Band and feature birthday cake and lemonade.

“This event reaches beyond the University of Arkansas campus,” Shields said. “We hope the community will help us celebrate the senator’s vision of peace through education.”
