FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Sean O’Bryan, computer support specialist in the J. William Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences, has been named to the Northwest Technical Institute’s Computer Information Systems Advisory Committee. He will serve on the department’s seven-person committee with other information technology professionals from government institutions, media outlets and private corporations.

“I’m excited to see a member of Fulbright IT being active in our community helping shape technical teaching and learning,” said Teresa Waddell, Fulbright College director of technology. “Sean’s contribution and experiences are certain to be meaningful and valuable to the committee’s progress.”

The committee helps advise the computer information systems department on curriculum and ensure that what students are learning corresponds with current industry needs and expectations. Committee members are chosen for their specific occupational expertise and knowledge.

"Sean was a stand-out student, and we have watched him excel in his position with Fulbright IT," said Lisa Holland, chair of the computer information systems department at Northwest Technical Institute. "We are thrilled to have Sean's work experience to help guide NTI and our curriculum. His participation is just one more part of a great partnership between NTI and Fulbright College."

O’Bryan joined Fulbright IT in 2010 and currently oversees desktop management, imaging and support and computer deployments while supervising four hourly technical support technicians.

“I am honored to be afforded the opportunity to assist NTI with CIS course curriculum advising,” said O’Bryan. “My goal is to help ensure that the programs stay current and continue to produce skilled technicians who are poised and ready for the world's technology workforce.”

To further augment his technology skills, O’Bryan has been through the network and computer technician curriculum within Northwest Technical Institute’s computer information systems department. Since joining Fulbright IT, he has completed the University of Arkansas Supervisor Development Program (spring 2012) and the Managerial Leadership Series (spring 2013).
