National Panhellenic Conference Organizations Celebrate International Badge Day

Members of NPC organizations will be wearing these stickers today.

The 10 National Panhellenic Conference groups on the University of Arkansas campus are celebrating International Badge Day today, and showing their support for one another by wearing heart stickers that feature NPC sorority Greek letters.

International Badge Day, which is March 3, was established in 1997 by the National Panhellenic Conference to set aside a day for women everywhere to wear their sorority badges or Greek organization letters in a celebration of sisterhood. This year’s theme is “Where Your Letters on Your Heart.”

"Today is an opportunity for sorority members across the country to celebrate their values & the diversity within our respective organizations as well as share our common experiences as Greek leaders,” said Parice Bowser, director of Greek Life. “Sororities from all councils traditionally join in this celebration!" 

The Kappa Delta sorority purchased 3,000 stickers created for the event for the campus NPC organizations.

“We wanted to do this because it has never been celebrated on our campus. We are promoting unity and even though we have our own letters we support each other and work well together. It’s great to be part of an organization that is bigger than each individual sorority, “ said Taylor Dunn, a sophomore pre-law, international relations and political science major, from Nashville, and member of Kappa Delta. “We’d like for this to be an annual event to celebrate the Greek community around the world and the organization (NPC) that brought complete strangers together and made them a family.”

“NPC organizations support each other every day, but International Badge Day is a wonderful opportunity for Greek chapters on our own campus to show this support,” said Denice Pugh, Kappa Delta collegiate advisory board panhellenic advisor.

National Panhellenic Conference, one of the largest organizations advocating for women, is the umbrella group for 26 national and international sororities. NPC sororities are located at more than 660 campuses with 325,772 undergraduate members in 3,127 chapters. Alumnae are represented in 3,883 associations throughout the world.
