This week’s featured registered student organization is Arkansas’ CRU.

CRU, which is short for Campus Crusaders for Christ, is no ordinary organization. Originally founded in 1951, CRU has been providing students with an on-campus community that allows them to explore and express their Christian faith. CRU’s primary goals include: teaching the Gospel, transforming students’ lives, creating relationships between students, leaders, and God, and preparing future leaders, who are influenced by faith, to go and change the world. CRU encourages students to show their faith on campus and in the community through their attitudes, behavior, and actions.

CRU offers a variety of opportunities for self growth. Weekly meetings consist of worship, teaching, and connecting with other students. Small group meetings allow students to change their lives by challenging themselves to deeply explore their personal, religious relationship with God while also being surrounded by the support of a small, close, and exclusive community. Conferences and retreats allow students to further their involvement within the organization and meet with students from other schools who are also involved. Finally, CRU emphasizes the importance of giving back. They are involved in multiple community service projects within the Fayetteville community and nationally, through mission projects.

Michelle Davis, a sophomore at the University of Arkansas and a member of Alpha Delta Pi Sorority, said, “I'd say that my favorite part of CRU is the community I get to be part of outside of ADPi! Most people who are involved with Cru are not in sororities or fraternities so I get to see what their lives are like and how they are able to reach campus differently than I do. It's changed my life because freshman year it really helped me explore my faith for myself, and through that community I was able to apply it to my life and see how to take everything I'm learning past college!”

Although all the students involved in CRU have different interests and experiences, they share several common interests. These interests include a love of fun, music, and adventure and a desire to explore how a personal relationship with God can fulfill a person’s life. CRU meets weekly on Tuesdays at 8:30 p.m. at the University Baptist Chapel. All students are welcome to come and receive the life changing experiences this club has to offer.
