Germany is much more than Schnitzel and Lederhosen. Germany also has one of the highest immigration rates in Europe, which has led to great cultural diversity in many parts of everyday life. At this year's German Club Film Festival, you will have the chance to see this multicultural side in three movies:

Tuesday, March 4: Im Juli / In July

Can Daniel follow the sun from Hamburg to the Bosporus by Friday to meet his love?Daniel is a young teacher and determined to stay in Hamburg for the summer. He first meets Juli when she calls him over to her stand on the street in Hamburg where she sells jewelry. She sells him an ancient Mayan ring with a sun on it and tells him that it will lead him to the woman who will bring him true happiness. One day later Daniel is already on his way across Europe. Wednesday, March 5: Leroy

Leroy, a young Afro-German, is in love and life couldn’t be better if it wasn’t for his girlfriends’ Neo-Nazi brothers.
Set in Berlin, this movie shows a young man’s struggle with identity while simultaneously dealing with his extremely open-minded parents, his immature best friend and his first love. Be prepared for political incorrectness and satire at its best. German subtitles 

Thursday, March 6: Auf der anderen Seite / The Edge of Heaven

A Turkish man from Germany travels to Istanbul to find the daughter of his father's former girlfriend.
Nejat seems disapproving about his widower father Ali's choice of prostitute Yeter for a live-in girlfriend. But he grows fond of her when he discovers she sends money home to Turkey for her daughter's university studies. In what follows, the lives of six people connect on emotional journeys towards forgiveness and reconciliation. English subtitles
