Students interested in political advocacy on behalf of students at the University of Arkansas can apply for the new Associated Student Government Razorback Action Group now through Friday, Feb. 14. The deadline has been extended.

Positions are open to all University of Arkansas students who meet co-curricular eligibility requirements. Students selected for the ASG Razorback Action Group will serve for the remainder of the academic year. Applications are available at asg.uark.edu and in the office of student activities, ARKU A665.

“Being involved in shared governance at the University of Arkansas is an excellent opportunity for a student’s growth and development,” said Bo Renner, ASG president. “Members of the Razorback Action Group will receive first-hand experience in advocating for student interests at the state and national level.  Being active in ASG as a part of the Razorback Action Group under the Executive Cabinet will provide an invaluable service to students here at the You of A.”

Members of the Razorback Action Group will represent the Associated Student Government at the University of Arkansas in local, state, and federal special interests. They will work on behalf of students to assure that government officials at all levels are aware of the most important issues to our student body. This team will explore ways throughout the year to unite and excite our student body when it comes to governmental relations and higher education issues.

“Students should join the Razorback Action Group because it will give them the opportunity to advocate for students to legislators at all levels,” said Autumn Lewis, ASG chief of staff.  “This group is a great way to gain leadership skills and to work to make life better for your fellow student.  An added bonus of the group is the ability to take a trip to Little Rock to meet other student leaders from across the state.”

Applications are due to the office of student activities, ARKU A665, by noon on Friday, Feb. 14, and no late applications will be accepted. Contact Chief of Staff Autumn Lewis at asgcab1@uark.edu or Director of External Relations Nathan Coulter at ncoulter@uark.edu with any questions.
