This Week in the Visual and Performing Arts: Jan. 24-31
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The J. William Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences will feature several concerts, workshops and art exhibitions in the coming week. Students, faculty, staff and guests are encouraged to attend these events in the visual and performing arts.
Guest artist Cole Closser will give a workshop at noon Friday, Jan. 24, in the printmaking studio, room 207 of the Fine Arts Center.
Also on Friday, After the Tsunami, by professor Larry Foley will be featured as part of the Indie Film Fest in Eureka Springs. Pricing and other details are available at the event’s website.
The Razorbones, the university’s trombone choir, will give a concert featuring guest artist Denson Paul Pollard and assistant professor Cory Mixdorf at 6 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 25, in the Fine Arts Center’s Stella Boyle Smith Concert Hall.
Guest artist Andrew Simon will give a clarinet recital at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 29, in the Stella Boyle Smith Concert Hall.
Guest artist Stephanie Pierce will give a lecture at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 30, in room 213 of the Fine Arts Center.
Also on Thursday, guest artist Dmitri Ratser will perform a piano recital at 8 p.m. in the Stella Boyle Smith Concert Hall.
The Black Music Symposium will hold a performance at 6:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 31, in the Stella Boyle Smith Concert Hall. Admission is $25 for adults and free for University of Arkansas students with a valid student I.D.
Floating Lines an interdisciplinary student art exhibition, continues until Friday, Feb. 14, in the Anne Kittrell Art Gallery in the Arkansas Union. The exhibit is open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday.
New Faculty Exhibition: Stephanie Pierce and Cynthia Nourse Thompson continues until Sunday, Feb. 23, in the Fine Arts Center Gallery. The gallery is open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday.
