FAYETTEVILLE -- Parice Bowser, director for Greek Life at the University of Arkansas has been appointed to the national advisory board for the National Panhellenic Conference.

Bowser provides leadership to the university's four Greek Life governing councils and the 33 national fraternities and sororities on the U of A campus.

"It is an honor to be selected to represent our university at the national level," Bowser said. "I certainly look forward to working with the National Panhellenic Conference including providing feedback to help advance the fraternal movement as it relates to sorority women making a difference on college campuses."

Bowser will serve on the Fraternity/Sorority Advisory Committee for the National Panhellenic Conference for the 2013-15 term. The committee is comprised of selected campus professionals from different higher education settings in different regions of the country. It serves as a think tank for new ideas, programs, trends and campus issues relating to the Greek Life community.

The National Panhellenic Conference was founded in 1902 as a way to bring together national and international sororities and women's fraternities providing them with support and guidance, and serving as the national voice on contemporary issues of sorority life. It is one of the largest women's membership organizations representing more than four million women at 655 colleges and university campuses and 4,500 local alumnae chapters in the U.S. and Canada.

"This appointment speaks volumes regarding our efforts at the University of Arkansas in the areas of leadership and growth including having the largest sorority chapters in the nation," Bowser said.

"Parice has worked creatively and collaboratively with our NPC chapters and alumnae as U of A enrollment has grown," said Melissa Harwood-Rom, dean of students. "She stewards our sorority leadership as they manage record recruitment classes and chapter expansion. As our thriving Greek community is the envy of many campuses, I can well understand that her colleagues look to Parice's leadership and expertise."

Bowser received her Bachelor of Science and her Master of Science both at Arkansas State University. She served as the coordinator for Greek Affairs at the University of Memphis before joining the University of Arkansas Division of Student Affairs. She is also a member of the Association for Fraternity Advisors, the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators, and American Association of University Women; as well as serving on the Association for Fraternal Leadership and Values Board of Directors.  She has previously served as the Fraternity & Sorority Knowledge Community Representatives for NASPA Region IV-West.
