This Week in the Visual and Performing Arts: Oct. 18-25

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The J. William Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences will host three art exhibits, two music concerts, a guest lecture and a play this week. Students, faculty, staff and friends are encouraged to attend these on-campus and off-campus events in the visual and performing arts.

Anna Tsantir’s printmaking exhibit in the Fine Arts Center hallway exhibition cases will close Friday, Oct. 18. It will be replaced by student work from associate professor Angela LaPorte, which will run from Monday, Oct. 21, until Friday, Nov. 15.

The Oklahoma City University Faculty Brass Quintet will give a guest recital at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 23, in the Fine Arts Center’s Stella Boyle Smith Concert Hall.

Resonance: Audible Silence in Portraiture will open Wednesday, Oct. 23, and will continue until Wednesday, Dec. 4, in the Fine Arts Center Gallery. The gallery is open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday.

Guest scholar Camilla McComb will speak at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 24 in room 213 of the Fine Arts Center.

Also on Thursday, the University of Arkansas Children’s Choir Fall Community Concert is at 6:30 p.m. in the Stella Boyle Smith concert hall.

University Theatre presents Translations by Brian Friel from Thursday, Oct. 24, until Sunday, Oct. 27, in Walton Arts Center’s Nadine Baum Studio. All performances are at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $5 for adults, $4 for seniors, $4 for University of Arkansas faculty and staff and $3 for students.
