This Week in the Visual and Performing Arts: Sept. 13-20
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Friday, Sept. 13, through Friday, Sept. 20, members of campus and community are invited to attend the following events in the visual and performing arts. These performances and presentations feature students, faculty, guests and organizations affiliated with the J. William Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences.
The Razorback Marching Band will present their Beatles Show during half time of the Arkansas Razorbacks football game against the Southern Mississippi Golden Eagles at Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium Saturday, Sept. 14.
The King Fahd Center for Middle East Studies will host Nadi Cinema: Reel Bad Arabs, An Evening with Jack G. Shaheen at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 18, in Mullins Library room 104. Shaheen will participate in a discussion following the screening of his documentary film Reel Bad Arabs. Shaheen will also present the lecture "American Images of the Middle East: Problems and Prospects" at 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 19, in Old Main's Giffels Auditorium.
Also on Sept. 19, guest artist Tim Hale, senior vice president of design management and marketing at FOSSIL Inc., will speak at 5:30 p.m. in room 213 of the Fine Arts Center.
Alexandra Bond will give a student voice recital at 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 20, in the Fine Arts Center's Stella Boyle Smith Concert Hall. She will be joined by Shannon Horner on cello.
The Spiritualist, an original play by Robert Ford, visiting assistant professor of drama, continues until Sunday, Sept. 25. The performance features University of Arkansas students, faculty and alumni and may be seen Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. at the Walton Arts Center's Nadine Baum Studios, 505 W. Spring Street in Fayetteville.
A ceramic sculpture exhibit featuring guest artist Kate Blacklock, with additional pieces by university students and faculty, continues in the Fine Arts Center hallway exhibition cases. It will be on display until Friday, Sept. 27.
Resplendent, an exhibition in the Fine Arts Center Gallery, continues until Friday, Oct. 11. The gallery is open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday.
