Art Department Students, Faculty Selected for Exhibition at National Conference

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Works by ceramics students and faculty in the department of art will be featured in a concurrent exhibit for the National Council on the Education for the Ceramic Arts 47^th Annual Conference.

“This is by far the largest exposure we’ve had,” said Jeannie Hulen, associate professor of ceramics and chair of the department of art in the J. William Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences. “We have a very visually compelling and provocative exhibit.”

More than 4,000 members of the national organization attend the annual conference. The exhibition will run Monday, March 18, through Saturday, March 23, at Two Allen Center in Houston. Adam Posnak, adjunct professor of art, organized the show, which will be open to conference attendees as well as members of the community.

“This is one of the largest and oldest conferences for art,” said Hulen. “By getting a show into the conference, it shows the level of prestige the program has.”

Students and faculty members participating in the exhibit include Hulen; Posnak; Mathew McConnell, visiting assistant professor; Jinsoo Song, artist in residence and studio technician; Linda Lopez, adjunct professor; Amanda Salov, former faculty member; and master of fine arts students Nichole Howard, Cambry P.D. Newton, Laura Polaski and Todd Pentico.

More than 100 exhibitions of ceramic art will be held in more than 80 venues around the city in conjunction with the conference. The venue will host a reception from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday, March 20.
