Razorback Transit Teams with Ozark Regional Transit to Serve Spring International

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Students, faculty and staff in the Spring International program at the University of Arkansas can now get additional bus service at the Uptown Campus from Ozark Regional Transit. The free ORT service started Monday, March 4, as part of a partnership with Razorback Transit to provide more bus service between the main U of A campus and the Uptown Campus on E. Sain St.

“The Razorback Red Route now has three buses that serve Uptown Campus during the busiest parts of the day,” said Adam Waddell, associate director of transit at the university. “However, the additional ORT service will allow students and faculty a quicker return to campus and make it easier for them to get to places like the Mall or Fiesta Square at lunch time.”

Ozark Regional Transit has adjusted two of its bus schedules to coordinate connection points between the two systems at the NWA Mall, Fiesta Square shopping center, and Hillcrest Towers near the Fayetteville Square. Razorback Transit and ORT are also developing coordinated maps and schedules to provide the best information possible to the public.

Spring International students, faculty and staff will need to show their ID cards to ride the ORT buses, but will be able to ride the system anywhere in Northwest Arkansas for free.

“This experiment should provide valuable planning and coordination information for both transit systems,” said Waddell. “It will provide additional resources for the community and may lead to more collaboration in the future.”
