Hayriye Kayi-Aydar

Hayriye Kayi-Aydar, University of Arkansas assistant professor of English as a second language education, has been elected as chair-elect for the Applied Linguistics Interest Section of TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) International Association.

TESOL’s Applied Linguistics Interest Section, one of the largest interest sections of TESOL Association, applies research and theory to real-world contexts and explores implications for the enhancement of language learning and communication.

Recently, Kayi-Aydar was also selected to serve on the Research Committee for TESOL International Association. As a research committee member, her responsibilities include maintaining and continuing the development of the TESOL research agenda, strengthening relationships with other research-oriented organizations, ensuring that TESOL research activities meet professional standards for quality, and identifying and prioritizing future research-related projects.

Kayi-Aydar joined the faculty of the curriculum and instruction department in the College of Education and Health Professions this fall. She earned a doctorate from the University of Texas at Austin.
