Race Judicata NWA Raises $7,200 for Legal Aid of Arkansas
Race Judicata Northwest Arkansas, held on Oct. 20 in conjunction with the University of Arkansas School of Law alumni weekend, raised $7,211 for Legal Aid of Arkansas. More than 200 people participated in the race, including 33 law school faculty and staff members. U of A law professor D’lorah Hughes will present the check at the Legal Aid board meeting in Springdale on Dec. 8.
“Race Judicata Northwest Arkansas was a rousing success. The support received from individuals, businesses, and corporations was a testament to the humanitarian spirit in this community,” said Lee Richardson, executive director of Legal Aid. “Although all sponsors are praiseworthy, I wanted to specifically thank our lead sponsor, Walmart Stores, which has proven once again to be a willing partner fully engaged in responding to the needs of the communities. As a result of this race, Legal Aid of Arkansas will be able to provide assistance to an additional 20 families that have been subjected to domestic violence, consumer fraud or wrongful denial of benefits they need to subsist.”
Race Judicata featured a one kilometer fun run and a five kilometer race through the University of Arkansas campus and the Dickson Street entertainment district. The 5K ended at the Richard B. Atkinson Memorial Courtyard at the School of Law building, with treats, snacks, massages, yoga and party music for participants.
The race was sanctioned by USA Track and Field. A complete list of Race Judicata sponsors is available at http://racejudicatanwa.org/sponsors/.
