College of Engineering Recognizes Outstanding Students, Faculty and Staff

The College of Engineering recognized several students and faculty and staff members at a collegewide meeting on Friday, May 4. Eight students received Outstanding Senior Awards from their departments: Abigail Washispack from biological and agricultural engineering, Allison McAtee from chemical engineering, Matthew Rothmeyer from computer engineering; Anthony Shumate from computer science, Michael Howland from civil engineering, Thomas Rembert from electrical engineering, Emily Evans from industrial engineering and Kristin Gangluff from mechanical engineering. Abigail Washispack was named the College of Engineering Outstanding Senior.
Christopher Adkins, Levi Bucao, Kristin Gangluff, Luke Osborn and Matthew Rothmeyer were recognized as First Ranked Senior Scholars for having achieved a 4.0 grade point average for coursework completed on this campus. Iain Bailey, Tyler Bowman, Thomas Rembert, Anthony Shumate and Marius Von Hacht received Senior Scholar Awards, for maintaining a 4.0 grade point average that included transfer credits.
William Stanton received the George and Marion Branigan Senior Engineering Scholarship, which goes to the rising engineering senior with the highest grade point average, and Katherine Chen was recognized for being selected as a Presidential Scholar by the university.
In addition, five students received the Porter Stone Coop Award, which is given to engineering students who have excelled in cooperative education: Matthew Burns, Danny Dixon, David Meints, Jordon Morris, George Sakhel and Brigetta Super.
Each engineering department also presented Outstanding Teacher, Outstanding Researcher and Outstanding Service to Students awards to members of its faculty. The following faculty received awards:

Linda Pate, departmental administrative manager for the department of biological and agricultural Engineering was named the College of Engineering Employee of the Semester. Tamara Ellenbecker, assistant to the graduate studies chair in the department of industrial engineering received the College of Engineering Employee of the Year award.
