Holcombe International Living Learning Community, an award-winning residence hall is holding its annual  “Dance Around the World” celebration at 6 p.m. Friday, April 13 in the living room of Holcombe Hall. The event is free and open to everyone who is interested in learning about other cultures.

The event will feature about 15 different groups of dancers representing countries including Japan, Laos, Vietnam, Ghana, Rwanda, Tunisia, Palestine, Panama, Dominican Republic and Haiti. Performers are all University of Arkansas students who are willing to share their cultures through these dances.

 “We are so looking forward to welcoming performers from all around the world,” said Bonifacio Lopez, the president of the Holcombe Hall Senate. “The event last year was a great success, but we are expecting the program will be even better this year. The fact that this residence hall is fairly small creates a more intimate environment."

Holcombe Hall is home for both American and international students, a place where they live together and learn from each other. Residents participate in rich experiences which promote inquiry, understanding and appreciation for traditions, values and lifestyles present in the world. The mission of the Holcombe International Living Learning Community is to "create an environment that fosters cultural awareness, develop a broader world outlook, and build strong, lasting bonds among citizens of the world." To achieve this mission, Holcombe Hall Senate organizes several programs for the community such as Dance Around the World.
