Everybody has books that are gathering dust on their shelves. Why not help the University of Arkansas lead the SEC schools in RecycleMania by donating your gently used books to the UA Bookstores Book drive?

The University of Arkansas Bookstore and the Office for Campus Sustainability will partner on a book-drive for the RecycleMania 2012 competition, a national competition to reduce waste and increase recycling rates. The book-drive will take place March 5 to March 16. Bins to recycle your gently used books will be available each day at the University of Arkansas Bookstore on Garland Avenue each day of operation.   If you have trouble locating the bins, simply ask any of the bookstore staff.

Books will be donated to Better World Books, a for-profit organization that promotes literacy and carbon sequestration projects around the globe.

“The great thing about this book-drive is that it not only keeps books out of the landfill but Better World Books will donate a certain percentage of the money received for the sale of the books to planting trees. Everybody wins,” said Carlos Ochoa, interim director of the office for campus sustainability.
