Members of the University Recreation Bass Fishing Club have been invited to compete in the ESPN College Bassmaster Classic in Shreveport, LA February 24-26.

The University of Arkansas, Louisiana State University and LSU-Shreveport will have three boats of representatives from each school competing in the tournament.

Jared Kenmore, Paul LaFleur, Mook Miller, Kyle Billingsley, Kenneth Anderson and Drew Porto will be the bass fishing teams representing Arkansas at the competition.

"We are very excited to represent the University of Arkansas on a national level,” said Mook Miller, vice president of the Bass Fishing club. “Just being given the chance to stand on the same stage with the best fishermen in the world is an opportunity that most will never get to experience again.”

If Arkansas wins this tournament, the bass fishing team will have a chance to defend the title at the ESPN Classic in 2013.

“We are looking forward to bringing the College Classic Trophy home,” said senior Kyle Billingsley.  “I want to thank Shannon [Club Sports director] for working with us and being so supportive."

The Bass Fishing club is one of 27 active University of Arkansas club sports teams operated by the department of University Recreation. The club sports program provides opportunities for individuals who share a common interest in a specific sport. Club sports are regulated by program and university policy but retain the characteristic of self-administration and self-regulation through student officers who run the club.

Support University Recreation club sports like Arkansas Ice Hockey by purchasing apparel online or at the Razorback Shop in the Arkansas Union. Both short-sleeve and long-sleeve styles in a variety of colors are available for purchase for nine different clubs. A portion of the proceeds will go to the individual club sports teams supported by the sale.
