Former Securities Investigator to Speak to Students

A former branch chief of the enforcement division of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission will speak to University of Arkansas students Oct. 6 about fraud and how it will impact future careers in business.

Pat Huddleston, who in the 1990s led an SEC team of attorneys investigating insider trading and brokerage firm and other business misconduct, will speak on “Understanding Fraud and Its Impact on Your Future Career” at 2 p.m. on Oct. 6 at the Global Financial Markets Center in Willard J. Walker Hall, Room 331. Huddleston’s talk is free and open to the public.

The Garrison Financial Institute at the Sam M. Walton College of Business is sponsoring Huddleston’s talk. The event qualifies as credit for Leadership Walton students at the Walton College.

Huddleston is founder and chief executive officer of Investor’s Watchdog, a company that conducts pre-investment investigations on brokers, registered investment advisers and unregistered investments. He is a frequent speaker at universities, professional associations, companies, nonprofits and other organizations. He is also the author of the forthcoming book The Vigilant Investor.

Huddleston has appeared as a business expert guest on CBS’s Monsters & Money in the Morning, Fox Business News and other television shows and has been quoted in the Wall Street Journal, the New York Times, the Washington Post, Kiplinger’s Personal Finance, USA Today, Wired magazine and other publications.
