Award of Distinction

The University of Arkansas Global Campus department of media services won an “Award of Distinction” at the 17th Annual Communicator Awards in New York City, for a promotional video about university conference services available in Fayetteville and Rogers.

The Communicator Awards, founded more than a decade ago, is the largest and most competitive awards program honoring the creative excellence for communications professionals, according to its website. The awards, announced May 30, recognize creative excellence in advertising, corporate communication, public relations and identity work for print, video, interactive and audio.

The Global Campus video earned distinction in the interactive category of online video marketing and can be seen online.

“The recognition of a Communicator Award for our conferences video says more than the video is of the highest quality,” said Mandel G. Samuels, director of the media services department. “It symbolizes the level of quality customers can expect in all facets of the services offered by our conferencing team.”

The video promotes conference services at the Global Campus, 2 E. Center St., on the downtown Fayetteville square, and at 3300 Market St., at the Pinnacle Center in Rogers. Learn more about both facilities at the website or call 479-575-3605 or 800-952-1165 in Fayetteville or 479-464-5024 in Rogers.

“The conferences team is proud of our facilities and high level of customer service, and we wanted to share this with potential clients,” said Kim Jones, manager of the department of conferences, special programs and professional studies. “Videos seem to convey our message much better than still pictures and text. We are pleased with the media team’s work and very excited that it has received this national recognition.”

The department of media services provides the University of Arkansas and its clients with expert video and audio production services, state-of-the-art communication tools, and experienced staff to capture, preserve and share events and educational projects. More information about their services is available at their website. For consultation and pricing, contact the department at 479-575-6487 or 800-952-1165.

“As online video sites are growing in popularity, web video marketing is becoming more and more of a necessity for brands looking to get their name and message out there, and the Global Campus is leading the pack in video marketing for the web,” said Chris Erwin, manager for Global Campus business development, who produced and directed the video.

More than 6,000 entries competed for Communicator Awards determined by judges from the International Academy of Visual Arts, an organization of more than 550 members. The academy membership includes Conde Nast, Coach, Disney, The Ellen Degeneres Show, Estee Lauder, HBO, Keller Crescent, Monster.com, MTV, Polo Ralph Lauren, Sotheby’s Institute of Art, Tribal DDB, Victoria’s Secret, Wired and Yahoo!
