Student reporter interviews makers of Katy Perry lipdub video
Before Spring Break, Rebecca Smithson, a senior broadcast journalism major interviewed fellow University of Arkansas students about the making of their now famous YouTube music video parody of Katy Perry’s Firework.
Smithson, a UATV reporter, spoke with the group of friends about their video going viral and its surge of popularity. The video has made headlines on campus and nationwide. Days after posting the video on YouTube, singer/songwriter Katy Perry herself commented on the video on her Facebook Page. Perry posted, “University of Arkansas has some FIREWORKS! Keep letting your colors burst guys!”
The video has been viewed over 900,000 times. The roommates and best friends in the video are Devon Parks, Josh Casey, Chris Ross, Brett Wiley, Trent Loyd, Parker Watkins, Brandon McBryde, and Chris Kimmel.
