Longtime University Relations Staffer Named to CASE III Board
Roy Cordell, director of visual and creative services at the University of Arkansas, has been appointed to the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education District III Board of Directors.
The announcement was made at the CASE III district conference held Feb. 20-23 in New Orleans.
“We are pleased that the CASE III membership has elected Roy to serve on the board,” John Diamond, associate vice chancellor for university relations, said. “Roy will bring more than two decades of experience to the table and be a great ambassador to represent the interests of the University of Arkansas to the district. It is a great honor for one of our staff to be able to give back to the advancement profession in this manner.”
“I’m looking forward to serving on the board of directors for our region,” Cordell said. “CASE provides valuable career enrichment opportunities and is a great resource for people who work in the advancement field.”
CASE, headquartered in Washington, D.C., with an office in London, is the professional organization for advancement professionals at all levels who work in alumni relations, communications and development. Its membership includes more than 3,000 colleges, universities and independent elementary and secondary schools in the United States, Canada, Mexico and 42 other countries. It is the largest nonprofit education association in terms of institutional membership. CASE is divided into eight districts. The University of Arkansas is part of district III, one of the largest districts comprising most of the Southern states and most of the Southeastern Conference schools. CASE III provides many support functions for universities, colleges and independent schools and is responsible for developing standards and practices in the fields of alumni relations, development and university relations.
Cordell, a Fayetteville resident who has been with the University of Arkansas since 1993, will serve on the board for two years. In his role on campus, Cordell oversees the visual and creative services department in the office of university relations and was responsible for the creation of the University of Arkansas tower and shield logo. The department is responsible for all visual representations and images produced in the university’s name for broad audiences, to include print publications, graphic design, photography and videography. The unit is also responsible for oversight of universitywide graphic standards and is charged with developing visual presentations for the chancellor and other administrative offices.
