Panel Discusses Gender Issues Raised in The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks

There are obvious racial issues involved in the story told in The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks, the non-fiction best seller by Rebecca Skloot. The gender issues may be more subtle, but are also important. A panel of four University of Arkansas faculty members will examine those issues at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 10 in the Multicultural Center at the Arkansas Union. Susan Marren, associate professor of English; Gwynne Gertz, adjunct assistant professor of English; Pearl Ford, assistant professor of political science; and Shauna Morimoto, assistant professor of sociology and criminal justice will take part in the panel discussion. The event is free and the public is welcome. This panel discussion is being held as a part of the One Book, One Community project.
