Mars Inc. Joins Sustainability Consortium
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Mars Inc. has joined the Sustainability Consortium in support of the organization’s science-based work toward a more sustainable global supply chain. The company joins other consumer product manufacturers, retailers and non-governmental organizations that have become members of the consortium and its product “life cycle” mission including social and environmental considerations.
“Mars believes that science-based assessment and allocation of life-cycle product impacts are critical to enabling a transition to a more sustainable production-consumption model,” said Kevin Rabinovitch, global sustainability director for Mars. “The consortium’s work is vital to moving beyond a focus on conflicting measurement systems and on to driving real reductions in impacts across the supply chains delivering the products consumers love.”
“We are excited to welcome Mars Inc. into the consortium,” said Jon Johnson, co-director of the consortium and executive director of the University of Arkansas Applied Sustainability Center. “They are a proven leader in the realm of corporate sustainability, and their knowledge and leadership will be a tremendous asset.”
