Deggs Named to Board of Directors of Eastern Educational Research Association

David M. Deggs, assistant professor of workforce development at the University of Arkansas, has been elected to a division director position on the board of directors of the Eastern Educational Research Association. The division, Higher and Adult Education, is among the largest in the association and conveyed more than 50 sessions at last year's annual convention.

The election occurred during the summer EERA board meeting in Atlanta.

"We are very pleased to have David on our board and to work with Division 16," said Abbot Packard, president of the association. "David has an outstanding track record of publications and presentations, and he brings a lot of good ideas and energy to an already outstanding division."

Deggs, who joined the faculty of the College of Education and Health Professions in 2008, has a research agenda that blends higher and adult education.

"My research really focuses on how adults learn, what tools they use to learn, and in a variety of settings, especially higher education," Deggs said.

In his new role, Deggs will serve on the board of directors and coordinate the selection and scheduling of presentations for the association's annual convention. Deggs succeeds Darla Twale of the University of Dayton in the position.

EERA was founded in 1977 and is a regional affiliate of the American Educational Research Association. The association's annual conference is held each spring and will be in Sarasota, Fla., in 2011. The 2010 annual conference in Savannah, Ga., had just under 500 educational researchers from a variety of disciplines attend and present research.
