Public Input Sought for Campus Climate Plan
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Members of the community are invited to join Nick Brown, the executive assistant for sustainability on the University of Arkansas campus, and the University of Arkansas Sustainability Council for a public input session regarding the Campus Climate Action Plan. Two sessions will be held this coming Tuesday at the Fayetteville Public Library: The first session will be held from noon until 1 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 18. The second session will be held from 6:30-7:45 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 18.
The Climate Action Plan is one of the key actions pledged by the University of Arkansas when it became one of the first 100 signatories of the American College and University President’s Climate Commitment. The plan will outline the ways in which the university will achieve “climate neutrality.” The action plan and all progress reporting will be made available to the campus community.
Brown will give a 20-minute overview of sustainability efforts currently under way and then open the discussion to gather additional ideas for ways the University of Arkansas may reduce its carbon footprint. Participants may provide written comments. The final plan will be publicly presented later this year. This is the second public input session held this year.
