Campus Day 2010 Brings Prospective Students to Campus

Pre-College Programs at the University of Arkansas hosted approximately 1,500 students from northwest Arkansas, southwest Missouri and eastern Oklahoma for Campus Day 2010 on Friday, April 30. The sixth through eighth grade students were members of Educational Talent Search, College Project, or University Access Talent Search.

The theme for Campus Day 2010 was “Get the Picture….” The students arrived at Bud Walton Arena beginning at 9 a.m., where they were given free disposable cameras and given a chance to snap shots of themselves and their friends. The students were welcomed to campus by associate dean Judd Harbin and Razorback basketball coach John Pelfrey, and were shown a video prepared by Pre-College Programs.

The students then broke up into groups to tour the campus and attend presentations at a dozen different locations during the morning. They returned to Walton Arena at noon for lunch and a chance to win free souvenirs and prizes.

The day’s events were designed to introduce the prospective students to the campus and show them the opportunities that await them as students at the University of Arkansas.

Educational Talent Search, College Project, and University Access Talent Search are three of seven programs administered by Pre-College Programs. These three Talent Search Programs serve nearly 2400 students in grades six through twelve, promoting the skills and motivation necessary for students to pursue a college education.
