Beck Publishes Book on International Human Resource Development

Jules Beck, clinical assistant professor of workforce development at the University of Arkansas, wrote Practicing International Human Resource Development: Independent Consultants Talk About Their Life and Work published by Lambert Academic Publishing.

The book is a compilation of interviews with 10 human resource development professionals about their work as independent international consultants. They discuss the joy and excitement of working in foreign lands, along with the challenges of cultural isolation abroad and applying what they have learned back home. The insights offered are designed to help better prepare others for similar work.

Beck has experience in international community and leadership development in South and Central America, West Africa and Eastern Europe. He chaired the St. Louis Park, Minn., Human Rights Commission and served three terms as president of the American Civil Liberties Union of Minnesota.

Beck joined the faculty of the College of Education and Health Professions in 2004.
