University to Host Naturalization Ceremony As Part of International Education Week

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — The University of Arkansas will celebrate International Education Week with food, entertainment, a cultural bazaar and a naturalization ceremony for new citizens.

Gov. Mike Huckabee has proclaimed Nov. 14-18 as U.S. International Education Week in Arkansas, encouraging all residents of Arkansas to join in this observance.

The University of Arkansas will host a naturalization ceremony at 1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 18, on the Arkansas Union Mall. U.S. District Court Judge Jimm L. Hendren will conduct the ceremony and he is inviting a guest who will present the formal address to the new citizens.

Other events include:

International Bazaar -- 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 14, in the Union Connections Lounge. Colorful displays and performances from around the world will be available and are being sponsored by International Students Organization and Office of International Students and Scholars.

Study Abroad Photo Contest — 5 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 15, in the Multicultural Center.

International Education Night — 6 p.m. Thursday, Nov 17 at the Union Food Court. Choose from a variety of cultural workshops and presentations.

Study Abroad Information tables will also be available each day in front of Union Food Court during the lunch hour.
