University of Arkansas to Release Results of Arkansas Poll

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — University of Arkansas political scientist Janine Parry will release results of the ninth annual Arkansas Poll to the media on Tuesday, Oct. 30. In a break from previous years, the poll results will not be embargoed and may be published upon release.

In addition to the news release, a full summary report of the poll results will be posted on the University of Arkansas Web site. Parry will be available for interviews throughout the day of release, and reporters are encouraged to schedule an interview in advance.

Each year the poll has identified and tracked critical issues for Arkansans. The 2007 poll covered a wide range of political and social topics, such as:

  • Open-ended questions about the most important problems in the state;

  • Approval ratings of public figures, including the president, governor and U.S. senators;

  • Questions related to the 2008 presidential election;

  • Issues such as abortion, adoption or foster parenting by gays and lesbians, undocumented immigrants, the Equal Rights Amendment, global warming; and

  • Perceptions of quality of life in Arkansas.
