University of Arkansas Names New Director of Enhanced Learning Center
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — The University of Arkansas and the Division of Student Affairs are pleased to announce that Deborah Korth has been named the new director of the Enhanced Learning Center (ELC). Korth had been serving as associate director of the ELC since 2004 and assumed the role of director on March 7. Her annual salary will be $58,000.
“As a former math education specialist and associate director with the Enhanced Learning Center, Deborah Korth brings a wealth experience and knowledge to the director’s position,” said Joseph Seabrooks, assistant vice chancellor for Student Affairs. “I am confident the skills she has developed during the past two years will assist her in advancing the U of A’s vision of the center.”
Korth arrived at the university in 2000 as a student pursuing her doctoral degree in higher education administration. She joined the ELC in summer 2003.
Prior to arriving at the U of A, Korth earned her Masters of Education in secondary mathematics from North Carolina State University. Korth also served as an advisor at East Central University in Ada, Okla., and as a program coordinator at the Ardmore Higher Education Center in Oklahoma.
“I believe that only through collaboration with the entire university community can we hope to expand the potential for the success of the student body,” Korth said. “The establishment of the Enhanced Learning Center in 2003 was a significant step toward ensuring that success. I look forward to the challenge of developing new and innovative techniques that will help make the center a greater service to students.”
Located on the garden level of Gregson Hall, the Enhanced Learning Center is a campuswide academic support service that is free for all students enrolled at the U of A. The center provides tutoring, academic success workshops, academic consultation and supplemental instruction. For more information, go to http://elc.uark.edu.
